Xcaret Arte was nothing short of amazing

A Tropical Oasis Unveiled: My Exquisite Stay at Xcaret Arte in Cancun

I was checking out a resort for an upcoming trip and had no expectations and had not even reviewed the resort before we left. A few years prior I had a trip planned to Cancun in Sprint of 2020 for my son's high school senior trip, and it got cancelled due to Covid of course. So, this was my first trip to Cancun and the resort was Xcaret Arte in Riviera Maya.

I've had my fair share of travel experiences and this is now my favorite all-inclusive resort. Since my first visit have returned 3 times and have my 4th and 5th trips planned all in less than 2 years. Nothing prepared me for the sheer beauty and luxury that awaited me on my first trip to Cancun and my stay at the Xcaret Arte Hotel.

I've always been drawn to tropical paradises, and there's something about the beach and warm weather that instantly puts my soul at ease. So, when I packed for the trip I did a quick scan of the website and I thought wow, it doesn't look bad :).

Looking back, my co-worker swears she mentioned how amazing it was and by the time we landed in Cancun, I was somewhat convinced that it was going to be an experience.

Arriving at Xcaret Arte, I was immediately struck by the hotel's architecture and design. It was elegant, yet had a relaxed vibe that perfectly complemented the surrounding natural beauty of the Riviera Maya. Instead of a grand lobby, I was greeted by an open-air outdoor room and a large open area where the staff was waiting on hand to bring me to my building so they could check me in. I don't know if this was the traditional welcome since I was there reviewing the hotel but there was no main check-in lobby, only one for groups. So, I think they escort everyone to their building check-in. It sounds odd but it's not. It was very personal.

Many things truly set Xcaret Arte apart from other hotels and the first one is its dedication to showcasing Mexican culture and art. The moment I entered my room, I was greeted by a meticulously crafted display of local crafts, textiles, artwork, and tequila. It was evident that every detail had been carefully curated to immerse guests in the rich heritage of Mexico. As someone who appreciates art and culture, I felt an immediate connection to the place. They also had an amazing art collection on display while we were there. Each night there was a different gift on my pillow from a local craftsman. This was for all guests!

The room was 5 stars from me and every single room was nice. My room had a brick ceiling. Who doesn't love a brick ceiling? I have 2 brick ceiling pictures that I will share and I wish I had a brick ceiling in my house now that I look at the pictures again. I am going to do a separate post on the rooms. The rooms at Xcaret Arte deserve a separate post, and you won't be disappointed. The resort property is world-class. There are 6 or 7 eco parks on the property that I didn't know about and I am taking a trip next month and will be going to 2-3 of the parks and will provide another post. The ecoparks are like ziplining, white water rafting, and maybe a lazy river. More to come.

Of course, it's not just the stunning surroundings and amenities that make Xcaret Arte special; it's the people who work there. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of perfect. From the moment I arrived until the day I departed, I was met with warm smiles and a genuine desire to make my experience unforgettable. I had a room attendant who communicated with me on WhatsApp and anything I needed he brought to my room or helped me make dinner reservations anytime till midnight or so and started at 7 am.

I never left the resort as there was so much to do and even on the 2nd and 3rd trips we didn't leave. If you are familiar with Cancun then you probably have places you want to visit but there was no need or any desire to leave the property. The hotel staff was evident that they took immense pride in their role as ambassadors of Mexican hospitality.

During my stay, I also had the opportunity to indulge in spa treatments that relaxed every ounce of my body. I had the Temazcal ritual, a traditional Mayan steam bath, and it was a deeply spiritual experience that left me feeling renewed and connected to the ancient traditions of the region. The skilled therapists at the hotel's spa ensured that every moment was a moment of pure relaxation and self-care. I would say that the spa was somewhat of a wellness spa, where we did breathing techniques before the message and it was so peaceful, I didn't want to leave. I have been rushed on every visit and at some point, I am going to go on a full vacation and enjoy the peace and luxury. Oh, after the spa there was a vegan restaurant that everyone kept mentioning. I am not a vegan so it wasn't on my list of places to go but someone mentioned they had smoothies so I went up and got a spirulina-type drink and went back three more times to get the drink and had lunch there. The food was outstanding and you know when you leave a restaurant and daydream about the food later? Well, I have tried to recreate the spirulina drink at home and have not come close. That is my first stop on my trip next month!

Night Time at Hotel Xcaret Arte

One of the highlights of my stay at Xcaret Arte was the culinary experience. The hotel boasts a range of dining options, each more delectable than the last. From traditional Mexican dishes to international cuisine prepared with a Mexican twist, every meal was a culinary journey. The fresh seafood, locally sourced ingredients, and expertly crafted cocktails were nothing short of a gastronomic delight.

I have always enjoyed trying new foods when I travel, and Xcaret Arte exceeded my expectations. One evening, I dined at the Cueva de los Murciélagos, an underground cave restaurant. The setting was enchanting, with dimly lit stalactites hanging from above, and the sounds of a gentle underground river nearby. It was a dining experience unlike any other, and the flavors of the dishes served there are etched in my memory. I am going to possibly do another article on the food and the drinks because I can't do justice to the experience of it. I spent time with the bartender who was the hotel mixologist and it was nothing like I had ever experienced.

Beyond the exquisite dining, the hotel offered so many activities to keep guests engaged. While I could easily spend hours lounging on the pristine beach, I also took the opportunity to explore the natural wonders of the region. Xcaret Park, an ecological and cultural theme park adjacent to the hotel, was a treasure trove of experiences. From swimming in crystal-clear water to witnessing traditional Mayan rituals, each moment was a chance to connect with the rich history of the area.

I couldn't resist the allure of the beach, and Xcaret Arte did not disappoint. The soft, powdery sand and the gentle lapping of the turquoise waves against the shore created a tranquil ambiance that was pure bliss. Whether I was taking long walks along the shoreline or simply lounging in a beach cabana with a good book, the beach became my sanctuary during the mornings when I had time to relax.

As I reflect on my first trip to Cancun and my stay at Xcaret Arte, I can't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to have experienced such a remarkable place. It's not just a hotel; it's a haven of culture, art, and natural beauty. It's a place where the warmth of the Mexican people matches the warmth of the sun. It's a place where every detail is carefully considered, and every moment is a celebration of life.

In my years of travel, I've encountered many destinations, but Xcaret Arte left an indelible mark on my heart. So, if you're seeking a retreat that offers not only relaxation but also a deep connection to Mexican culture and art, I wholeheartedly recommend Xcaret Arte in Cancun.

Update: I have had so much traffic to the article that I did connect with the hotel to offer a discount and am waiting on one, so check back soon.

Safe travels friends!
